Adept in any style he cares to put his name to, from industrial darkness to bouncing jump-up, the ‘No Reason’ EP sees Enei set his sights firmly on the dancefloor with a quartet of tracks that fall somewhere between the two.
‘Death Crew’ leads the way, melding together rasping orchestral hits and grizzly bass into a powerful whole; while ’Flute Anthem’ brings a heavy staccato rhythm made memorable by a wild snake-charmer flute riff.
‘Not For You’ delivers Enei’s expert take on minimal jump-up; twisted bass licks bickering away over sparkling, swinging drums; before title track ‘No Reason’ completes the package, cleverly employing gentler, classic drum breaks to give the most brutal of basslines plenty of room to do its damage.
