Critical Music welcomes the colder months with part one of its latest ‘rmx_series’, enlisting some of the label’s newer artists to rework original tracks by in-house heavy hitters Particle, Enei, QZB and Sam Binga.
Bristol-based SMG toughens and roughens Particle’s ‘That Hz’ in all the right places before one of the darkest D&B tunes ever made, Enei’s monstrous ‘Sinking VIP’, gets the end-of-the-world treatment from Kiwi producer Joey iLLah.
Submarine makes his first solo outing for Critical by glitching out QZB’s ‘City On Lock’ for a moody remake, while imprint boss Kasra – now a well established producer in his own right – reaches way back into the label’s discography to bring Enei’s 2011 banger ‘Cracker’ bang up to date.
Finally, Spectral gets busy with Sam Binga & Redders’ ‘Lef Dem’; flaunting her skills by somehow melding classic breaks and rampant techno with Redder’s inimitable bars.
