Six months on from ‘Countdown’ – his fourth studio album for Critical Music – drum & bass titan Enei returns with two more precision-calibrated dancefloor weapons.
Renowned for his stylistic versatility, this double-header sees Enei strictly in roller mode, unleashing a pair of stripped-back, ten-tonne grooves primed for moving feet and nodding heads.
‘Underscope’ expertly fuses ultra-clean drums, sliding bass and old-school sub oscillations for a breathless slice of sonic hypnotism that slides neatly into any set.
‘Stoned’ comes slightly harder, its tightly syncopated bassline driving restlessly forwards over lazy snares and hazy hi-hats, punctuated by a raft of delightfully twisted sonic touches in all the right places.
