Raise Your Hands (w/ SOLAH) / Short Stuff

The unstoppable drum & bass producer returns to Critical with a festival-ready vocal anthem alongside SOLAH, backed by a strictly underground minimal roller.

Critical Music is proud to welcome the return of drum & bass ultra-heavyweight Break for a devastating double-header, featuring the powerhouse vocals of label regular SOLAH.

Dropping 15th August, this release delivers two very different D&B moods, with the festival-ready, soaring euphoria of ‘Raise Your Hands’ sitting alongside the stripped-back, heads-down purism of ‘Short Stuff’.

In the years since his last release for Critical Music back in 2012, Break has built a reputation as one of drum & bass’s most prolific and technically proficient producers, with releases for iconic, scene-shaping labels including Metalheadz, Shogun Audio and, of course, his own imprint Symmetry.

The Bristol-based producer’s meticulous sound design and ability to weave soul and groove into everything from minimal rollers to hard-hitting dancefloor weapons makes Break the perfect fit for the Critical Music roster.

SOLAH represents the new generation of drum & bass vocalists, first establishing herself as a Critical mainstay with her 2017 debut ‘Made Of Light’. In the years since, the British songstress has showcased her lyrical skills by collaborating with major D&B artists including DJ Marky, BCee, Monrroe, Spectrasoul, Halogenix, Flava D and Pola & Bryson.

‘Raise Your Hands’ is a huge vocal D&B tune destined not just to smash up raves but for radio rotation and festival main stages all summer long. SOLAH’s emotive voice elevates Break’s signature soulful-yet-brutal production to new heights, creating a track that resonates with both emotional intensity and dancefloor energy.

On the flip, ‘Short Stuff’ delivers something totally different. Stripped back, tense and straight from the cutting edge, this gritty underground gem showcases Break’s technical prowess and sounds unmistakably Critical. A masterclass in minimalism that nods to the heads and the late nights in low-ceilinged basements that are at the label’s core.

For over two decades, London-based Critical Music has established itself at the forefront of the drum & bass movement, consistently discovering and nurturing innovative talent while maintaining an unwavering commitment to sonic excellence. This release further cements the label’s reputation as a vital platform for boundary-pushing electronic music.
